Simple and easy to make, but different from the usual recipe, give the following recipes a try.
1. Mango Panna
This is a common drink made with raw, tangy mangoes in most households during the summer months. Wash and boil some raw mangoes in a cooker -cool it down -remove the skin and then blend it in a blender. A healthy twist would be to add cane sugar, rock salt or a pinch of cardamom powder to it. Serve it cold with toasted cumin powder and a sprig of mint. A very soothing drink to drink after a hot day outside – a perfect antidote to heatstroke and relief from the scorching sun.
2. Mango Shake

Take any mango if it is a bit sour the better, peel it and cut it into small pieces. Add a glass of chilled milk and a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Sugar is an option for anyone who likes it sweet or you can also add some kewra or Chandan sorbet for an exotic taste. Mix it in a mixer, pour it into a tall glass and decorate with small mango cubes and a piece of saffron. A drink that is sure to seduce your taste buds and so satisfying that you don’t have to eat anything afterwards.
3. Mango salsa

Yes, the tasty tomato salsa can be made by replacing the tomatoes with juicy, sweet and sour mangoes. This dish can be made in just minutes and is a perfect accompaniment to chips, nachos and raw salads. You can also use it as a garnish. After peeling, cut mangoes into very small cubes, add finely chopped onions, parsley, green chillies, sea salt, a few drops of lemon juice – mix well and you’re done! So easy to make and so delicious you’ll want to add it to everything, your tortillas, tacos, and eat it like a chutney with different kinds of parathas.
4. Mango lassi

This tasty drink is available in most eateries during the summer, but making it and serving it at home has a very different taste. Although it can be made with any mango, it tastes best when we use Alphonso. Take a thick chilled curd and a cup of peeled and diced mangoes with some vanilla ice cream and sugar. Mix it well in a mixer and serve it in a tall glass. Sugar can be replaced with cane sugar or a spoonful of mango frooti or mango slice. Garnish it with chopped almond and pistachio and a thinly sliced mango slice.
While these are common recipes that are made in most households during the summers, with minor changes, the recipes are sure to give a new look. By adding certain ingredients, you can easily make the most of traditional mango recipes more exotic. Add different flavors to your regular mango drinks and food by replacing some traditionally used things with not-so-traditional items and you have a new dish! Seasonal mangoes are only available for a limited time, so experiment and enjoy the new flavor!
