It’s summer! What we really need to get through the scorching heat and boost our mood are some healthy, delicious snacks. So, here we have Dr. Kriti Israni, who specializes in child development, to present some interesting snacks that we can enjoy with our children in the summer holidays.
1. Mango ice creams
This recipe calls for a 2:1 ratio of mango pulp and yogurt. Take yogurt, add 1 tbsp sugar and beat well. Put aside. Meanwhile, wash and peel the mangoes; chop the pieces. Transfer to the mixer and add 3 tablespoons of sugar. Mix it well. If it’s too thick, add water (1/4 cup) and whisk well. Now take a popsicle mold and pour the puree (1/4th). Then add yogurt and finish with a layer of mango puree. Wrap it with aluminum foil. Carefully prick with a knife and insert popsicle sticks. Freeze it overnight. Then take it out and carefully expose the outside under running tap water. Gently take it out and enjoy the sweetness; while enjoying the nutritional benefits of mango.
2. Oat blueberry cupcakes
Combine oats (1 – 1/4 cup), wheat flour (1 cup), cane sugar powder (1/3 cup), baking soda (1 tablespoon), and salt (1/2 teaspoon). Mix milk (1 cup), 1 egg, and 1/4 cup vegetable oil; mix until dry ingredients are moist. Fold in blueberries. Fill greased muffin tins 2/3 full with batter. Bake at 220 C for 20-25 minutes.
3. Air Fried Sweet Potato Chips
Super fast, healthy, nutritious chips. Scrub sweet potatoes and cut sweet potatoes into very thin rounds. Drizzle with olive oil and salt. Spread in an even layer on the airfryer and bake at 360F for 20 minutes.
4. Donut Apples
A healthy, deliciously sweet snack – Cut apples (2) and use cookie cutters or cookie cutters to hollow out the cores. Take cream cheese 8 oz. and divide into two parts. In one part add honey (1 tsp) and in another part melted chocolate (1/2 c.). Keep these aside and stir ingredients from each bowl. Divide the mixture over the apple slices and sprinkle with sprinkles.
5. Decorative strawberries
A simple, healthy way to express creativity and make food exciting. Take strawberries and 1 cup of vanilla icing. Pour the glaze into a microwave-safe bowl and microwave for 5 seconds. Use a toothpick to draw two pointed ovals on strawberry. Take black food coloring gel; and outline the icing eyes. Set aside to set. Similarly, you can play with food colors and draw as many things as you can.
Preparing these recipes together with your child makes it a fun, close-knit experience. Just by making these simple snacks, you can create unforgettable moments with your children and give your children all the love, attention and nourishment they need.
