Actor and singer Adrienne Bailon has been in publicity for most of her life. You can successfully access things like Michelin-starred meals, but when it comes to her home cooking, Bailon admits her taste buds haven’t evolved much since she was a teenager.
Adrienne Bailon became famous when she was young
Adrienne Bailon is proud to have grown up in housing projects on the Lower East Side of New York City. She loved to sing as a child, and when she was a teenager in 1999, she was discovered by Latin pop icon Ricky Martin while performing with a church choir at Madison Square Garden. Martin chose Bailon to be a backing vocalist at his Livin’ la Vida Loca tour concert later that evening.
Shortly after singing with Ricky Martin, Bailon was drafted to the new R&B girl group 3LW. The group – made up of Bailon, Kiely Williams and Naturi Naughton – released songs such as their top 40 hit “No More (Baby I’ma Do Right).”
When she looked back on her time with the group in an interview with Naughton on The realboth singers admitted that although they were big names (with their own infamous MTV Cribs episode), in reality they slept together in bunk beds in an apartment.
Adrienne Bailon puts fruit punch in her tuna salad
On an episode of her show All things AdrienneBailon explained how her taste buds haven’t changed much since the days when she was struggling. She shared her teenage tuna salad recipe with a splash of fruit punch.
“So as you can see I have a problem,” she admitted. “I was home in high school one day, I had to make myself an after-school snack. I was making tuna for myself and I thought, ‘This isn’t doing much for my taste buds.’”
“I just had really high-end taste buds on a really low budget,” she continued. “How do I create something that’s just amazing? And this, my friends, is what I’ve made – and no one can tell me it doesn’t taste like a bomb.”
Not only does Bailon eat the tuna salad and fruit punch mixture in a bowl, but she even dips a sandwich right into the glass of punch.
Bailon defended her recipe on Twitter after she was called out for her eyebrow-raising prescription. “This is REAL LIFE!” she replied. “Lol. I am hungry and poor (I am 11 years old).”
