This one sliders are like your favorite iconic Philly cheesesteak, made miniature so you can share (or eat more than one!). They are the perfect appetizer or main course for game day, birthday parties, BBQs and more. While “traditional” Philadelphia cheesesteaks have only 3 ingredients (steak, onions, and cheese), you’ll often see it served with sautéed paprika and mushrooms on the West coast. Here we share the difference with the addition of green peppers, but feel free to add or omit ingredients to make it your own.
Speaking of type cheese putting a cheesesteak in it is a very controversial decision. We used American here, but provolone or Cheez Whiz are also great classic choices. Feel free to use up whatever you have on hand, as long as it’s mild in flavor and melts well.
Where we do not advise you to deviate from our recipe is with the mini Hawaiian rolls. They’re a little sweet and super soft and tender and are the perfect complement to that melt-in-your-mouth classic cheesesteak filling. That said, potato buns or mini brioche buns would also work if you have that on hand.
Hot tip: Placing the beef steak in the freezer it will firm up a little bit so it’s much easier to get those incredibly thin slices; 20 minutes is just the right amount of time. Don’t skip this step, but don’t leave it in there for too long either, because it’s not possible to cut frozen slices.
