Rizi bizi has been a popular side dish in Croatia for a long time and a particular favorite with many children.
Rizi bizi, or rice with peas, is best served as a side dish with crumbled schnitzel, meat or a spicy sausage as a main course.

Peas – 160 g
Rice (pre-cooked) – 200 g
Butter – 1 tablespoon
Onion – 1/2
Vegetable stock – 600 ml
1. Heat butter and olive oil in a pan. Add the chopped onions and salt. Let it cook until the onions become soft.
2. Add rice and cook for a minute or two. Add the vegetable stock, turn the heat to low and cook for about 10 minutes.
3. Now add the peas, a little olive oil, a pinch of salt and pepper and mix. Turn off the heat, cover and let stand for 5 minutes.
4. Rizi bizi is ready to serve.
