This is essentially a spicy dish that is combined with fish balls, boiled eggs and scallions. Although this dish is naturally non-vegetarian, we have found a vegetarian version of Korean spicy rice cakes so that everyone can try this unique dish. How to Make Korean Veg Tteok-Bokki | Korean Spicy Rice Cake Recipe
Start by preparing the rice cakes. For that you first have to make dough with rice flour, salt and boiling water. The dough should be semi-hard. Make a long thin stem of the dough with your hands and cut it out as shown in the video below. Then add the raw sticks to boiling water and boil. Drain them and let them rest.
Meanwhile, cook the tomatoes and the dry red peppers. Add them to a mixer-grinder along with coriander leaves, ginger, garlic, tomato ketchup, soy sauce and white vinegar and puree it.
Heat oil in a pan. Fry the sesame seeds and the chopped onion. Pour the puree into the pan and season with salt, pepper and Kashmiri red chilli powder. Add the cooked rice stick and bathe it in the sauce. Once the sauce is combined with the rice cakes, garnish with chopped green onions and serve warm!
