Recipe research in V Rising is conducted through three specific workstations, each of which will randomly unlock a new recipe for a given resource price.
Unlocking new crafting recipes is a core aspect of V rises and one of the fundamental methods of character progression. These recipes contain blueprints for castle structures, equipment, and consumables. For example, combat gear such as the merciless upgrades for copper and iron weapons are obtained through research. Without merciless weaponry, players will not have an adequate gear score to mine resources such as silver or iron V rises†
Accordingly, there are two primary ways to access new recipes in: V rises† The first way is through clearing activities such as dropping loot, fishing, or searching crates and containers. For example, common enemies, elites, and V-blood bearers all have a small chance of dropping recipe books that can be used to unlock a specific item available on a research workstation. Although some adventurers of the V rises community have stated that various V Blood bosses are more likely to drop a certain type of recipe book, this knowledge is more hearsay than fact. However, it is true that carriers drop better and higher loot on average.
Fish and loot boxes and containers are also great ways to buy valuable recipes V rises with little to no effort. Keeping in mind the randomness of the loot discovered though, these clearing activities are better performed as a sideline rather than a primary means of researching new items.
Unlock new recipes in V Rising
The second approach to learning new craft recipes in V rises is through research through three level-based Castle workstations.
- research agency: Costs Paper ×50 to unlock a Tier-1 Recipe
- Study: Costs Scrolls ×75 to unlock a Tier-2 recipe
- Atheneum: Costs Schemes × 100 to unlock a Tier-3 recipe
The Research Desk is acquired as a standard buildable structure during the early stages of the main campaign. The study is gained by defeating Nicholas the Fallen, and the Athenaeum becomes available after Raziel the Shepherd is defeated. Nicholaus is a Level 37 Carrier found in the Forgotten Cemetery of Farbane Woods, and Raziel is a Level 60 Boss in the Dunley Monastery of Dunley Farmlands.
Building the research workstations is the first step in unlocking new recipes, as players must collect enough papers, scrolls, or schemes to perform a single random discovery. Initially, these items are only obtained by clearing, but later players can create these resources themselves through the Paper Press. The Paper Press was obtained through rare drops or grinding research at the study.
V rises is available in Early Access on Steam.
