Crafting is the primary means of increasing your gear score in V rises† However, there comes a time when you reach a bump. Enemies are usually tougher, but you can’t find anything that can boost you further. That’s where the game’s technology mechanic comes in. Here is our V rises Research Desk technology guide to help you with the recipes you can unlock with paper and tomes.
Remark: We have a V rises guides and features hub coming soon, so stay tuned.
V rises Guide: Recipe Guide to Research Desk Technology
By following the early game tasks in V rises, you get the blueprint from the Research Desk. You’ll find it in the Research tab of the build menu and it requires 8x Plank, 120x Animal Hide, and 80x Stone.
This is when you want to collect paper and various tomes. Paper in V rises can be found in a few locations (just hover over the yellow areas of the map to see the types of loot in them). Both paper and certain tomes can also fall from enemies, and the tomes themselves indicate a particular recipe.
In any case, please contact the Research Desk in V rises to unlock technology recipes. There are two ways to do this:
- Discover any technology by spending 50x paper. Any item you can craft will then be unlocked.
- If you have a tome in your inventory, that blueprint also becomes available. Click on it to fully unlock the recipe, which will also automatically consume the tome.
Depending on what you’ve unlocked, you’ll check the workbenches for new items to craft. There is a good chance that you will encounter the Merciless variants of items:
- Merciless Brass Sword (12 Acceleration Score) – 1x Brass Sword, 2x Rough Sapphire, 8x Whetstone, and 4x Leather.
- Merciless Nightstalker Gloves or Boots – 1x Nightstalker Gloves/Boots, 4x Leather, 4x Coarse Wire and 8x Copper Bar.
With some brand new gear, your character’s gear score will increase slightly. New Blood Altar targets may appear, and some more difficult enemies will be easier to eliminate.
Early in the campaign, these equipped items should be enough to bridge the gap between your old set and Quincey the Bandit King’s (ie Iron Weapons and Hallowfang Battlegear). But keep in mind that you still need to craft explosives to destroy the gates to the Stronghold.
Last but not least, double tomes don’t have to be lost. They still serve a purpose because they let you get extra papers for technology prescriptions in V rises† If you’ve already built The Devourer (ie 12x Plank and 6x Copper Ingot), you can use any duplicate tomes you have to get 10x Paper.
V rises is available through Steam†
