Pineapple Shikanji Recipe: We Found the Ultimate Summer Cooler for You

It’s that time of year again. We turned on the fans and the air conditioners and use an umbrella and sunglasses to get out of the houses. In fact, we try every way out to keep ourselves cool in the midst of the unbearable heat outside. Another popular way to keep ourselves cool is to guzzle gallons of coolers. While we find numerous coolers to choose from, there are a few that are immediately dear to our hearts – shikanji is one of them. Shikanji, a classic desi drink, is a kind of nimbu paani with some fizz. Plus, it also adds some spice to our palate. Shikanji contains roasted jeera, chaat masala and black salt that adds an earthy flavor to the spicy-sweet drink.

While shikanji tastes great, we found a recipe that gives the drink a highly seasonal makeover. Curious how?! It’s because we add some pineapple to the hearty shikanji. Making Pineapple Shikanji – Chef Sanjeev Kapoor’s Recipe:

  1. To make the drink, first mix the pineapple chunks and sugar.
  2. Strain the pulp and add lemon juice.
  3. Now in a tall glass add some salt, black salt, roasting powder, chaat masala.
  4. Add the pineapple syrup, mint leaves and ice of your choice.
  5. Top it off with club soda, stir and the pineapple shikanji is ready to be savored.
