Ingredients you will need for the cake batter are butter, sugar, eggs, sour cream, vanilla, flour, baking powder, salt and of course pumpkin pie seasoning. To turn the cake into pops, mix the crumbs with cream cheese frosting. Although Rye uses the ready-made kind, she does say that “homemade cream cheese frosting would work just as well as store-bought.” If you’re really in the DIY mood, you can even make your own mix pumpkin pie seasoning of cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg and allspice.
As a finishing touch, dip the cake pops in melted white chocolate tinted with orange food coloring (or some of both red and yellow), and top them with broken pieces of mini pretzels to form the pumpkin stems. To make these real cake pops, you also need lollipop sticks. That said, they’re equally cute without the chopsticks and served as cake truffles!
