Ree Drummond has the perfect appetizer recipe that is such a cute and fun idea. The Pioneer Woman star’s wonton taco cups are easy enough to make and so cute.
Ree Drummond uses a mini muffin pan for her easy appetizer recipe
Drummond demonstrated how to make the adorable appetizer on an episode of The Pioneer Woman dedicated to easy recipes for her daughter Alex. The Food Network host put together a care package of kitchen supplies and recipes for Alex when she was just beginning her adult journey.
Drummond added a mini muffin tin to the package. “Of course she can use it to make muffins, cupcakes, brownies. It’s very convenient to make lots of small food items, including a really simple appetizer that’s perfect for socializing with friends,” she explained.
“So I make wonton taco cups,” the Food Network host shared. “They have so much to offer. They happen to be cute little snacks, very easy to make, and they use a shortcut ingredient that I always appreciate.

How to make Ree Drummond’s wonton taco cups
Drummond began by brushing melted butter into each well of the muffin tin. “And now, for the shortcut ingredient, I’m using wonton wrappers,” she said. She pressed a wrapper into each of the pan’s 12 cups.
Next, Drummond made a “very simple filling” for the appetizer. She combined black beans, diced green peppers, lime juice, and chili powder in a bowl and put a spoonful in each cup.
Drummond baked the wonton appetizer in a 375-degree Fahrenheit oven for 12 minutes, topped each with grated Monterey cheese, and baked them for another 5 minutes.
After cooling for a minute for the appetizer, she added fixins. Drummond added diced avocado, pico de gallo, sour cream, hot sauce, and cilantro. “The idea is to cover the filling that is baked in the cups with fresh, cool ingredients,” explains Drummond.
“Cutest wonton taco cup in wonton taco cup history,” she boasted. “How cute are these?”

Drummond primed her daughter for her first apartment success
During the episode, Drummond shared the kitchen items and recipes that she sent to her daughter in a large package. “I remember when I started out and had my first apartment, I didn’t have a good knife,” she said. “And every time I had to cut vegetables, I used a table knife. I only remember that I was always frustrated when I had to cook. If only someone had told me to buy a really good knife.’
While making the appetizer, the Food Network host commented that it’s great to have recipes on hand to entertain guests. “I don’t know if Alex has had much fun in her apartment yet. I know she was so excited to be living in an apartment with her friends,” Drummond noted. “And I know that as many friends as she has in Dallas…she’s going to need some little recipes like this one from time to time.”
