Ten talented home chefs presenting their culinary expertise in THE AMAZING AMERICAN RECIPE, a new eight-part competition series that celebrates the multiculturalism that makes American food so vibrant and unique. With a range of culinary styles infused with their backgrounds – from Syrian to Hungarian, Vietnamese to Mexican, Italian to Puerto Rican, Southern soul food to Filipino, the ten participants represent the delicious diversity of American home cooking.

Presented by Alejandra Ramos, each episode of the series gives chefs the chance to showcase two of their beloved signature dishes as they compete in the national quest for “The Great American Recipe”. judges Leah Cohen† Tiffany Derry and Graham Elliot bring their professional insights and deep culinary knowledge to encourage and support the participants along the way.

THE GREAT AMERICAN RECIPE combines food, family and fun, highlighting the amazing variety of flavors and traditions found in the US while capturing the roots of diverse American cuisine. From family favorites passed down from generation to generation, to recipes with international influences that are quickly becoming the mainstay of American cuisine, the series blends camaraderie with competition, revealing rich personal stories and the inspiration behind the contestant’s favorite recipes.

THE AMAZING AMERICAN RECIPE will culminate in a finale where the finalists prepare a full meal for the judges to make their final decision. One of the winner’s dishes is featured on the cover of The Great American Recipe Cookbookwhich will also include recipes from all contestants and the show’s host and judges.

EPISODE GUIDE:

Episode 1: “If I Were A Recipe” premieres Friday, June 24 at 9 PM and Saturday, June 25 at 6 PM on KPBS TV – Join the ten participants for their first challenge: to create a dish that expresses their unique story and talents. Then they put their original spin on regional dishes and ingredients and BBQ chicken and Korean tacos are on the menu.

Episode 2: “The Daily Dish” premieres Friday 1 July at 9pm and Saturday 2 July at 6pm on KPBS TV – Bring your appetite as the nine remaining home cooks share their favorite quick meals and the dishes that always win a crowd. Prepare yourself for everything from delectable shrimp tacos to a spicy sriracha paste.

Episode 3: “Love Language” premieres Friday July 8 at 9 pm and Saturday July 9 at 6 pm on KPBS TV – Join us in the kitchen as the remaining eight chefs share their favorite comfort foods and a dish inspired by a loved one. From first date cuisine to sentimental recipes passed down from generation to generation, love is definitely in the air.

Episode 4 “Moveable Parties” premieres Friday 15 July at 9 pm and Sunday 16 July at 6 pm on KPBS TV – Get ready to grab and go while the remaining seven chefs prepare hand-held delicacies and the ultimate in alfresco dining. From picnics to tailgating to the pool, everyone has a delicious dish that tastes like sun and fun.

Episode 5 “Party on a Plate” premieres Friday, July 22 at 9pm and Saturday, July 23 at 6pm on KPBS TV – Get ready to party as the six remaining home cooks share their favorite special occasion and holiday recipes. From a modern take on classic gourmet dishes to old family recipes full of love and memories, it’s a special night in the barn.

Episode 6: “Mix It Up” premieres Friday July 29 at 9 pm and Sunday July 30 at 6 pm on KPBS TV – Watch what happens when the five remaining chefs have to exchange recipes and prepare each other’s dishes. Then each must wow the judges with an original fusion dish that represents their own uniquely American story.
